This person will be responsible for the marketing, production and underwriting of National Account casualty business in the Los Angeles office of our client. Accounts typically range from $500k to several million in written premium and feature worker’s compensation, general liability and auto. All accounts involve loss sensitive underwriting. Knowledge of this is required.
This is a very consultative marketing and sales driven culture. Will work very closely with agents and brokers in the Southern California area. Strong existing broker relationships are key. Being able to forge new relationships and drive new business is critical. Will also handle the renewal portion of the book of business. There will be Account Managers to handle the day to day maintenance and servicing of the book.
Typical number of accounts is 10 to 12. There might be more to start as the department is staffing up and growing. As the staff continues to grow, the number of accounts will level off.
This person must be able to work in a collaborative culture. They should also enjoy and have a flair for marketing and new business production as well as a good comfort level giving presentations. There will also be the opportunity to mentor more junior underwriters.
Accounts will be assigned based on the strengths of the person hired. This position is flexible meaning that there is the ability to make this the highest level of underwriter before management OR it can be a Senior Production Underwriter.
